„Ups and Downs“
the story of
Marcel Stefan Nicolas
I was born in Romania. I lived 30 years in Romania, then 15 years in Spain and then I came to Germany. And this accident with my legs… well, the insurance says it was an accident at work, but the arthritis was before that.
I think I was born with this positive attitude. Until I was 14, I had my mother and father, but my grandmother taught me how to live. When my grandma died, I learned to take my life into my own hands. My father wanted me to study, but not in a big city. I was born in a village and next to this village is a small town 7 km away.
Oh God, family is sacred to me. I have two children and two grandchildren. They are in Spain, but I can’t be there with them and be there for them right now. But until I can be with them again, I’m finishing all the necessary paperwork for the pension and everything.
I lived in Hanover, that’s where I had the accident. I lived with a Mexican woman who has lived in Germany for 20 years. And I lived in Hamburg. I am in love with Hamburg. I never want to leave Hamburg.
The first time I heard about Hinz&Kunzt was many years ago. Initially, I learned German at school. I was there once a week on Wednesdays for an hour. But I learned to speak German on the street. In any way. The customers are everything and you have to get to know the people. I learned, there are so many things that hurt me: my legs, my hands, and my head, but not my mouth.
Sports used to be my passion. And now, because I can no longer run, I have also forgotten [what it was like then]. My passion is music and I think it’s better, it’s good for me. We listen to symphonies and later rock or other things. Something universal or multicultural.
My life is like a ladder. Like stairs. Up one step and down two, but that’s life. But what I have gained in this life is black humor. Life comes and goes and you have to remember that tomorrow the sun will rise. If it doesn’t, it stays in your heart. And always have fun with people. And do not forget: No matter how life is, it is beautiful, and be proud, the sun remains.
